Tell us about yourself.
I have lived in SAU16 for 2 years with my wife, Danielle and my two daughters Kayley (14) and Hayden (12) and dog Harley. We moved to the area for a job opportunity and we have fallen in love with the community,
I graduated from University of Massachusetts in Amherst and work as a National Sales Manager in a privately owned company.
Why are you running for school board?
I have witnessed a some very troubling issues with the SAU 16. Staff shortages, underpaid substitute teachers, two years without a teachers contract, divisive behavior of the administration, declining educational standards, falling academic rankings, and misuse of budget resources. I want to help to turn this around.
What issues about education do you most care about?
Increasing educational standards with a refocus on the core educational subject. Reading, Writing, mathematics. Depoliticize our children's education and refocus on the basics
Should you win the election, what are your long term goals?
To bring balance to the board and act as a "check and balance" to the Superintendent's directives.
I believe that a large portion of the public feel that their perspectives are not being taken into consideration by this school administration and school board. A more balanced perspective on the board could help to remedy these concerns. This board needs more checks and balance. More questions need to be asked and at times be less agreeable to every initiative brought forward by the superintendent.
How are you going to accomplish your goals in year one?
Through communication and dedication to the position. Working with other members of the board to seek to understand their point of view and productively communicate my own.
What subcommittees hold the most interest to you and why?
Budget Committee. I have worked with budgets and finance for 25 years and I feel that I could bring value to the particular committee.
